It was a whirlwind trip, one we had planned to make in April, however, the Lord had other plans for us. When it became obvious that He was blessing us with the opportunity to go sooner then expected, we scrambled and took off in less then 12 hours. It was such a blessing to visit the established church groups and people along the Amazon River. I had heard so much about them from our Bible workers.

Rafael Angulo and his wife are a couple in San Antonio. They had given their own property to the Lord for the site of a new church to be built. Not only did they donate the land, but because their house was there they also needed to build a new one at their own expense. They are relocating, not for their own benefit but because “the Lord’s house needs to be on the best land.”

Just across the river from Brazil, it was interesting to visit Islandia, the village built on 20 foot stilts. The river had risen and started covering the land beneath it. More inspiring than the scenery was the faith of its believers. It was a joy to meet their church leaders and hear how the Lord was directly answering their prayers. Two widowers were praying for new partners but not just any partners; they wanted to find “true Christians.” After only three months, they were committing themselves to new spouses for the rest of their lives!

In a few weeks we plan to return to the Amazon region and visit seven villages closer to Iquitos. The Lord has come through yet again and provided for a trip sooner than we expected. Lord, thank you for always providing in Your perfect timing!
