Early this month, four Americans arrived in Pucallpa, Perú. They came not as tourists or sightseers but as missionaries. The Doneskys, Orville, Odil, Andrew, and Christina, are the new missionary family to Peru Projects. Coming from Collegedale, Tennessee, they have answered the Lord’s call and relocated to serve the Peruvian population in the Amazon Basin.

Orville Donesky is being trained as the new bush pilot to continue the ministry of Beto Marin. He is studying the rules and regulations of Perú and once again preparing for jungle aviation. On a slightly more challenging front, he is also working to improve his Spanish. Odil will fill the greatly needed position of running the office and coordinating the air program. Since she grew up in South and Central America, she is well equipped to handle day-to-day operations and help with translation. Andrew and Christina will be continuing their schooling here but have greatly stepped in to assist wherever possible. Andrew, a computer and networking wiz, is in the processes of creating a computer network with reliable internet in the near future. Christina has jumped at the chance to work with our guard dogs, feeding and grooming them.

Though new to Perú, the Doneskys are not new to the mission field. They served in Guyana for nearly a year in 2001 and 2002 with the mission aviation program for Guyana Adventist Medical Aviation Services (GAMAS). Since then, they have taken many trips with an Adventist organization called Share Him. For three weeks, they would provide evangelistic campaigns in a remote location. They were able to spread the Gospel in Africa, Central America and Romania.

Until recently, Orville was working at McKee Foods Bakery as a mechanical engineer. Though his brother was killed in mission aviation, the Lord led Orville to consider flying for Him again. After discovering Peru Projects and the need for a new pilot, he prayed about it. On Sabbath that week, Steven Grabiner, vice president of Outpost Centers International, partner with Peru Projects, approached Orville and asked him to consider flying. After much prayer and the Lord’s guidance, the Doneskys accepted the call and began the process of relocating to Perú.

After eleven months, they are finally here and ready to continue the Lord’s work. Please pray for them as they finish settling in and adjust to the new environment. Pray that the Lord will direct their every step as they begin serving with Peru Projects.
